Sushma Swaraj Bhavan an institution of pre-eminence showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India, established by the Ministry of External Affairs, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on 2nd October 2016, with the broad objectives of commemorating the history and celebrating the contributions and achievements of the Indian Diaspora spread across the globe.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra has been renamed as 'Sushma Swaraj Bhawan' on the eve of 68th birth anniversary of late external affairs minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj on 14 February 2020, in a tribute to her 'invaluable contribution' to Indian diplomacy, the cause of the Indian diaspora and the ethos of public service.
